PJ Services can supply maintenance products to help keep problems at bay, however
we believe in offering not only service but good advice to our customers and have
included some general tips and hints to reduce the chance of potential problems.
· Ensure items such as combs, containers bottles etc are kept away from the toilet.
Many household items may not initially block the pipe but could lodge within it allowing
debris to build around this forming a solid plug. · Keep drains free of items such
as leaves, moss and frequently clean with hot water and disinfectant. Periodically
lift drain covers on your premises and check that they are clear and free flowing.
· Don't overdo detergent use such as washing powder or thick cleaning solutions.
· Check drain pipes/guttering at least twice a year. Clean out fragments such as
leaves, moss and dirt. Remove waste such as food leftovers from kitchen sink plugholes.
Don’t force through. · Cooking fat is a prime culprit for blocking drains and piping
Avoid discarding cooking fat/lard down your sink or drain. Remove trapped hair from
basin/bath/shower plugholes. You will obtain the best results using a suitable chemical
cleaner. · Regularly flush through your bathroom pipe work with hot water and disinfectant
to clear soap/toothpaste residue. · Some items cannot be disposed of in your toilet.
Don’t flush disposable items such as sanitary protection, nappies or thick tissues.
Every so often flush your toilet when there is nothing to be disposed of. This will
ensure it continues to run smoothly. If your toilet flushing is slow or incomplete
you may have a partial blockage, which can become a major problem. · Act quickly
to rectify problems, neglecting a small drainage or problem could cause more damage
in the long term. Ask our plumber for further information on what we can do for you.
